Coverage We Help You Choose
Every life insurance policy is assembled from the same few parts: a coverage amount, a premium schedule, a length of time and, on permanent policies, a cash value account. Term life insurance keeps it simple and covers a set number of years. Whole life insurance and universal life insurance last a lifetime but handle premiums and cash value very differently, while final expense insurance and mortgage protection insurance are sized for one specific job. Retirement income planning works in the opposite direction, converting what you have saved into a paycheck that keeps arriving each month after you stop working.

Term Life Insurance
Level-premium term life sized to your mortgage, income and kids' ages, with conversion and rider options compared before you apply.

Universal Life Insurance
Permanent coverage with adjustable premiums and a cash value account, set up so you know which parts are fixed and which can change.

Final Expense Insurance
Small whole life policies that pay for a funeral, burial and final bills. We compare level, graded and guaranteed issue plans so you know which one fits your health.

Whole Life Insurance
Permanent coverage with a fixed premium and a cash value account, with each part of the policy and its trade-offs explained before you apply.

Retirement Income Planning
We line up your pension, Social Security and savings, then compare annuities and cash value policies that can fill the monthly gap.

Mortgage Protection
Life coverage sized to your mortgage balance and term, with the beneficiary, riders and policy structure explained before you apply.

What Goes Into a Policy's Price
The insurance company's underwriting sets the premium, not us, and it follows a predictable pattern. Understanding the main inputs shows you where adjusting makes sense and where it does not.
Once we have your age, basic health details and the coverage you want, we quote by phone and explain which parts of the price are locked and which could move.
- Type of policy
- For the same coverage amount, term life usually costs least, since it has no cash value and ends after a fixed period. Whole life costs more because part of every premium goes into cash value that is guaranteed for life.
- Coverage amount and length of term
- More coverage and more years both raise the premium. Switch the same coverage amount from a 20-year term to a 30-year term and the monthly price goes up, because the carrier carries the risk ten years longer, and those later years are when claims happen more often.
- Your age and health when you apply
- Underwriters review your age, medical history, prescriptions, height and weight, and any tobacco or nicotine use. Applying while younger and healthier usually secures a better rate class for as long as a level-premium policy lasts.
- How the carrier underwrites
- Fully underwritten policies that include a medical exam are often cheaper than simplified issue policies with no exam. Guaranteed issue final expense coverage skips health questions entirely, which is why it costs more and frequently has a waiting period.
- Riders and how premiums are paid
- Every rider adds to the cost. Paying off a whole life policy over a shorter span, such as by age 65, makes each payment bigger but stops them earlier.

About Life Insurance El Paso
We are a life insurance agency working with clients in El Paso, TX and the surrounding area. Our approach is the one we would want for our own families: understand what each policy is made of, then choose.
That means talking through details most people never hear about until a claim, like the two-year contestability period, how policy loans reduce the amount paid to a beneficiary, or why a universal life policy can lapse if the cash value runs dry. We would rather you hear it from us at the start.
The Path From a Phone Call to an Issued Policy
Most policies go through four stages. Underwriting sets most of the timeline, and we keep you posted on where things are at every stage.
- 1
Deciding what the money should do
We begin with the reason for the policy. Is it meant to replace a paycheck, pay off a mortgage, cover a funeral and final bills, or leave money to the next generation? That reason narrows the policy type long before we talk about price.
- 2
Comparing a few structures
We set out two or three policy structures that suit you, each with its coverage amount, premium, and the parts that are guaranteed and not guaranteed.
- 3
Applying and underwriting
You answer the carrier's questions about health and lifestyle, and some policies call for a brief paramedical exam. The insurer may also look at prescription and medical records before assigning your rate class.
- 4
Checking the contract together
When the carrier issues the policy, we go through it with you by phone: coverage amount, premium schedule, riders and beneficiaries, compared with what you applied for. Most policies also give you a free-look period to cancel and get your premium back.

How We Work With You
Most people are sold a policy by its name. We would rather show you what is inside it, so the choice is yours and you know why you made it.
- We explain the moving parts
- A universal life policy with a flexible premium behaves very differently from a whole life policy with a fixed one. We walk through guaranteed versus projected values, cost of insurance charges and what happens to cash value if you pay less than planned.
- Quotes laid side by side
- When we quote, we put the choices next to each other: coverage amount, premium, length of coverage and which parts are guaranteed. You see the trade-off in numbers instead of adjectives.
- Riders only when they earn their cost
- Waiver of premium, accelerated benefit and child term riders each add to the premium. We name the specific situation each rider covers and whether that situation realistically applies to you, then leave off the ones that do not.
- Beneficiary details done carefully
- A policy pays the person named on the beneficiary designation, not the person named in a will. We go over primary and contingent beneficiaries with you so the coverage goes where you intend.
What Clients Ask Most
Something not covered here? (915) 285-4009
How much coverage should I buy?
Total what the policy would need to pay for: your family's lost income over a set number of years, the mortgage still owed, other debts, costs ahead such as college, and final expenses. Then take away savings and any group life you have at work. We work through that math with you by phone, so the coverage amount rests on real figures rather than a round guess.
How do term and whole life actually differ?
Term life lasts a set period, often 10 to 30 years, with no cash value, which makes it the most coverage for each premium dollar. Whole life covers you for life, holds the premium level and builds guaranteed cash value you can borrow from. The catch is price: for the same coverage amount, whole life costs far more.
Is a medical exam required?
Not in every case. Many term policies are fully underwritten with a brief exam, and those often get the lowest rates, while simplified issue policies use health questions only. Guaranteed issue final expense policies ask no health questions, but they typically limit what they pay in the early years.
Can a health problem stop me from getting covered?
More often it affects the rate class or which type of policy you get, not whether you can buy one. Conditions such as controlled diabetes or high blood pressure are common, and each carrier treats them differently. We review your situation and steer you to the policy types you are most likely to qualify for.
I have SGLI at Fort Bliss. Should I add coverage?
SGLI is worth having while you serve, but it stops after separation and you have only a limited window to convert it. Many service members pair it with a private term policy so their coverage does not hinge on staying in the military. We can show you how the two work together.
What if I miss a premium?
Most policies give a grace period, often about 31 days, before they lapse. With whole life, an automatic premium loan can use cash value to cover the missed payment if that option was chosen on the policy. With universal life, a missed payment reduces the cash value, which is why we go over funding levels at the start.
